Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 16, 2026. This policy explains what information Quirkulator ("we", "our", "the site") does and does not collect, and how the little we do collect is used. The summary: your calculator inputs never reach us, and we collect the minimum a website needs to function.

1. Calculator inputs — never collected

Everything you type or select inside a calculator is processed by JavaScript running locally in your browser. Inputs are not transmitted to our servers, not logged, and not stored in any form. This is architectural: our server code contains no endpoint that receives calculator data. Results disappear when you leave the page unless you copy them yourself.

2. Information we do collect

Server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records standard request logs (requested URL, timestamp, browser type, and IP address) used for security, abuse prevention and debugging. Logs are retained by hosting defaults and are not used to build profiles.

Aggregate page views. We count how many times each calculator page is viewed, with no user identifier attached, to know which calculators people find useful.

Site search queries. Words typed into our site search are stored without any user identifier and used solely to decide which calculators to build next.

Contact form. If you write to us, we receive the name, email address and message you choose to send, and use them only to reply.

3. Cookies and local storage

We set no tracking cookies of our own. We use your browser's local storage for exactly one thing: remembering your dark/light theme preference (qk-theme). It never leaves your device and contains nothing personal.

4. Advertising

We may display advertising served by third-party networks such as Google AdSense to keep the site free. Third-party ad vendors, including Google, may use cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info. Users in the European Economic Area and the UK will be shown a consent mechanism before any personalized advertising cookies are set.

5. Third-party services

Fonts: we load typefaces from Google Fonts; your browser sends standard request metadata (including IP address) to Google when fetching them. Hosting: the site is served by our hosting provider, which processes request data as described in section 2. We embed no social-media trackers and no third-party analytics scripts at the time of writing; if that changes, this policy will change first, with an updated effective date.

6. Children's privacy

Quirkulator is a general-audience website and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our calculators require no account, no name, and no personal details to use.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California, and similar laws elsewhere), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. In practice, the only personal data we could hold is a contact-form message you sent us — write to contact@quirkulator.com and we will handle any request promptly.

8. Data security & retention

The site is served over HTTPS. Contact messages are retained only as long as needed to handle your inquiry. Search logs and view counters contain no personal identifiers to begin with.

9. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted prominently on the home page.
